# Set safeguards on payroll amounts

> In Weplanify, get an alert when a computed amount falls outside a set range, and block the payroll closing until it is corrected, if you need to.

In Weplanify, a control bound compares each computed amount with a minimum and a maximum.

## Steps

1. Open **Settings → Payroll → Pay elements**, **Control bounds** table.
2. On an item's row, enter a **Minimum** and/or a **Maximum**.
3. Make the bound **Blocking** to refuse the closing until the amount is corrected; otherwise it only warns.
4. Save.

## Good to know

- An amount outside the bounds shows in the [Control](https://weplanify.io/docs/paie.anomalies?lang=en) step and on the payslip.
- A blocking bound prevents the [closing](https://weplanify.io/docs/paie.cloture?lang=en).
- Clear both bounds to remove the control.
