# Generate a schedule in three steps

> In Weplanify, generate the schedule of the week on screen, or of four weeks, in three steps: who works, the split, then check and publish the draft.

- Product: Weplanify (https://weplanify.io)
- Section: Scheduling
- Web page: https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.generer?lang=en
- Other language: https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.generer.md
- Last updated: 2026-10-16

In Weplanify, the **Generate** button of the [planning](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning?lang=en) prepares a draft from your [schedule settings](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.regles?lang=en). Example: Pharmacie du Plateau in Dakar, with its pharmacists and sales staff in the morning and evening, and one person on guard at night.

## Steps

1. In **Time → Planning**, go to the week to fill, then click **Generate**. At the top, check the period: one week, the next one or **4 weeks**.
2. **1 who works**: every employee of the space, with their job in grey and what is different this week. Approved leave is already taken into account. The **Included** switch leaves someone out of this schedule; tap a name for their [availability and preferences](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.personnes?lang=en).
3. **2 split**: how many people you need each day, morning, evening and night, for each job. [Change a number](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.besoins?lang=en) if this week is different.
4. **3 check and publish**: the calculation starts by itself. Read the places not covered, then [publish](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.publier?lang=en).

## Good to know

- For next month, switch the planning to the month view, click **Generate** and choose **4 weeks**: the calculation starts on the first Monday of the month.
- Tick several people: a bar at the bottom offers **Availability and preferences**, **Leave** and **Uncheck all**. Leave entered here by an administrator is approved at once; for anyone else, the request follows the usual approval circuit.
- Nothing is published before you click. A day already clocked or past never changes, and a locked shift stays where it is.
- **Set up**, at the top right, opens the [schedule settings](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.regles?lang=en). The « … » menu keeps the [previous generator](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generer?lang=en).
