# Schedule settings: way of working, night and rules

> In Weplanify, the schedule settings say how your space works: everyone on their own or rotating teams, who works nights, and your rules written as sentences.

In Weplanify, the schedule settings are used by every [generation](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.generation.generer?lang=en). They are your company's rules, not the law: set them the way you work.

## Steps

1. In the generation, click **Set up** at the top right. The first time, the setup goes through the tabs one by one.
2. **Way of working**: **Everyone has their own planning** (pharmacy, shop, cleaning) or **By rotating teams** (factory in 3 shifts, security).
3. **Night**, if the space has a night shift: **Everyone**, or **Some people, taking turns**. For a guard, put the group in order, then set **Nights in a row**, **Rest days after** and **Starting on**.
4. **Rules**: sentences in groups (rest, hours, night and guards…). Click a rule for its value and strength, or **Add a rule**: who · what · when · how many, for example "Pharmacists work on Sunday, 1 out of 2, in turn".
5. **Usual split**: how many people you usually need, per job and per day. In grey, the number suggested from who can come; in bold, your choice.

## Good to know

- Days off: **exactly** 1 day a week by default, everyone working all their other days; or **at least** N days, everyone coming only when people are needed.
- Approved leave comes before the guard, and the guard before a rule.
- Hours are read from each employee's contract. While the rule "Everyone works their contract hours, no more" is off, going over is only flagged; once on, the schedule keeps to it. See also the [weekly duration](https://weplanify.io/docs/configuration.duree-par-semaine?lang=en).
- Strength of a rule: **never crossed** (the place stays empty and the report says so), **if possible**, or **off**. With teams, the **Teams** tab replaces **Night** ([teams and rotations](https://weplanify.io/docs/planning.equipes-et-rotations?lang=en)).
